Echinacea, or Coneflower, is an Oklahoma native that never fails to impress. Its vibrant hues draw the eye to the large flowers it produces. Excellent heat and drought tolerance make it a garden favorite. The relatively low maintenance it has doesn’t hurt either, as it often reblooms without deadheading. At the center of the up to 5” diameter flower head are the seeds that, when dry, attract the birds and butterflies. Beautiful and stark colors contrast each other and sit atop strong stems that hold textures and dark green leaves.

This plant is perfect for wildflower garden beds or containers. Mass plantings with similar perennials create stunning views. Echinacea does become very clumped together and should be divided every 4 years or so.
