Lobularia, also referred to as Alyssum, is a very popular early spring bloomer know for its stark white flower clusters and sweet smelling aroma. Some compare it to that of honey. It is a very low growing annual creating a carpet-like look in garden beds and an overflowing brilliance in containers and hanging baskets.
There are few other varieties that display hues of pinks and purples, but the white Lobularia is the main show here. Its bloom season is sporadic and may lessen in extreme heat, but can continue strong with a high phosphorous (middle number in the trio; 12-55-6) fertilizer. An excellent choice for early spring and Easter displays.
