Salvia, sometimes sage or meadow sage, is a very well-known and popular plant. Hues of purple, blue, red and white can be seen blanketing garden beds throughout Oklahoma. The most popular of these are the May Night and Gregii varieties (purple and red, respectively). Saliva apiana is a white salvia that is sacred to and used in some Native American ceremonies. Because of their prolific and persistent blooming, Salvia is an excellent choice in any aspect of the landscape. Spikes of blooms shoot out from dark green textured foliage.
Salvia is a great mid-height perennial leaving it to stand alone or accompany other perennials, annuals or shrubs. This plant will add nothing but value to any landscape or container garden.
