Bald Cypress trees are common sights in the landscape and frequently sought after. The Frio River originates from just that, the Frio River not quite 90 miles west of San Antonio, TX. Like its cousin, the Frio is found along river banks and often in the river itself.
Its broadly pyramidal shape lends to its beauty. The striking, almost lime green color of its needles draw the eye toward it without effort. Wider than its cousin, it dominates the landscape. The ability to tolerate alkaline soils and wetter conditions make it a good choice for heavy clay areas, as the water tends to sit here. The limy, awl-shaped leaves turn a striking bronze in the fall providing awe-inspiring autumnal color. This tree would make an excellent addition to any landscape or as a statement piece to draw any design plan together.
