The bluest of the deodars, Sanders Blue is a true contrast to its cousins. With fresh powdery blue foliage darkening with maturity; displaying the newer foliage nicely. Sanders Blue stands out elegantly from those of its kind.
A grand spreading tree with a broad habit of growth, pendulous branches bear bright silvery blue needles; best used for its majestic architectural qualities as a solitary landscape accent, needs lots and lots of space to grow for full effect. Similarly to other deodars, its extends with a strong central leader and a distinctive pyramidal form. Needles grow to 1 1/2” long off of weeping branches. Unlike its peers, it has a finer texture, giving it a lighter feel in the landscape. It is very adaptable to both dry and moist growing conditions, but will not tolerate any standing water.
