Spartan Junipers are widely revered for their narrow growth habit and tall stature, but can appear in shorter, more shrubby forms. This juniper is native to several regions in China, Japan, Mongolia and the Himalayas.
Spartans grow into a narrow cone or columnar shape and remain thick as if it had been sheared. It displays vibrant green foliage that gives a very soft appearance. A row of Spartans will produce a fairly uniform shape making it a great screen. Planted on four to six-foot centers, it can develop into a thick screen which could be useful along a driveway, where a narrow, bright green screen is often needed to create privacy.
