Pentas, or Egyptian Starclusters, are an amazing full sun annual. Snowball-like clusters of blooms in shades of pink, red, lavender and white sit on deep green, heavily textured foliage. The texture of the foliage adds interest and helps accentuate the bloom heads protruding on sturdy stalks.
This plant does exceptionally well in the hot Oklahoma sun and provides blooms across the seasons. For the most part Pentas require little to no maintenance. Dead heading the spent flowers will help boost bloom production. Pentas are an outstanding choice for garden beds and containers alike. Pentas are definitely an Oklahoma garden staple.
